New mooring fees to take effect soon
New yearly mooring fees for small craft, and charges for hire of dinghy shelters, will come into effect on October 1, under the Lyttelton Harbour Board’s bylaws amendments which were approved in April. Small craft up to 8m in length will be charged $l3O in the inner harbour, and $35 at other moorings. Inner-harbour moorings for other lengths are: over 8m and up to 10m, $150; over 10m and up to 13m, $170; over 13m and up to 16m, §210; and over 16m and up to 20m, $250. At other moorings, the mooring fee payable in advance on October 1 will be: over 8m and up to 10m, $4O; over 10m and up to 13m, $45; over 13m and up to 16m, $55; and over 16m and up to 20m, $65. ■■ The charge for the hire of a dingy shelter for the coming year will be $2O. Other schedules of charges in the board’s by-laws came into effect on May I. " The amended .by-laws, which cover everything-from a ban on drowning animals in the harbour to the placing of placards on the wharves, include such generaUy unknown and ignored rules as the one which says that no person shall ride any bicycle or motor bicycles upon any wharf without the traffic manager’s permission Another rule prevents the riding of any horse on any wharf and .yet another, completely ignored by most people, states: “No person shall fish with rod, line, net, or otherwise from any wharf, nor place nor use any fishing nets or other fishing gear thereat or thereon, without first having obtained permission from the harbourmaster.”
