Well-bred filly dead
PA ' Napier Attempts to save the wellbred Hastings filly Bold Eulogy after she broke down badly in the Bonny Glen Handicap at Awapuni on Saturday were in vain. She died a few hours after ' the race while under treatment.
Her owner, Frank Moughan, took the filly from the Awapuni track to the Massey Veterinary Clinic shortly after the incident.
Massey vets were treating the filly when she died, apparently of massive internal bleeding caused by a fractured pelvis. Bold Eulogy, a three-year-old lightly-raced maiden, was a recent barrier trials winner and is a member of the famed Eulogy family. She was by Taipan from Game Eulogy (by Faux Tirage) as grand-daughter of a New Zealand Cup winner, Serenata, dam of a New Zealand Derby winner, Eiebestraum.
