Essex Hospital closing
I Sir, —Mr Grigg, by referring to domiciliary nursing, (September 18), has missed the point I raised which was for domiciliary aid, a much wider concept than nursing, and essential for a woman who leaves hospital 48 hours after confinement. Are the nurses supplied by the board also expected to . clean and cook? Women who have too little rest and recuperation after giving birth can suffer from all sorts of gynaecological problems later in life. ■As I have suggested before, a pool of relieving nurses within the community who could act in several capacities, appears to have more merit than to expect the over-worked hospital nurses to cover this aspect. After all, the services provided by a stay in hospital cover much more than just nurs-
ing. I should be interested to see if the demands on this service were met if it were offered, rather than supplied bour?” No such scruples agi-1 M. CREEL. I September 18, 1980. 1
