Cycling team reduced

The Canterbury road cycling team for the Healing national championships in little more than a week has been reduced to 30. With the withdrawals of Bruce Brunton — a New Zealand representative this month — Chris Hogan and Peter Lewis (the latter two both former national representatives) only six seniors will now line up for the championship on October 4. Also, the veteran cham-

pion, Ron Kennedy, and another veteran, Roger Fowler, have pulled out, leaving three “oldies” to contest th: 35 to 45 race, and. two for the over-45 championship. However, the entire Timaru team of Jim Ryder, Wayne Howes, Brian Thin and Warren Meggitt —J- winners of the Canterbury 100 km team time trial title —• has been confirmed as . a second Canterbury entrant in .the championship.
