Seminar on gas conversion soon
A large Christchurch electrical contractor has announced its decision to restructure part of its company to specialise in a service to assist industrial and commercial gas consumers to convert to electricity.' Announcing this move, the general manager of Aotea Electric, (Mr Michael Newcombe) emphasised the need for present gas consumers in industry, commercial concerns, sports clubs, and institutions, to have a service which can handle all inquiries and carry out this important changeover. “We have established Aotea Convertco to handle electrical, plumbing and heating installations with the co-operation of the Christchurch Gas Company,” Mr Newcombe said, “and have co-opted leading servicemen to make sure we can handle the demand.” Months of planning have gone into this new venture, and Aotea Convertco are
confident that by acting now many companies can avoid increasing conversion costs and last minute panics which might lead to production hold-ups and public inconvenience as 1981 draws near. The general manager of the Christchurch Gas, Coke and Coal Company, Ltd, (Mr C. S. Kennedy) has welcomed the formation of Aotea Convertco. “Shortly Aotea Convertco and our company will be inviting industrial and commercial gas users to attend a gas converting seminar, where we will be presenting a team of experts in their field to answer questions and discuss the most efficient means of converting to electricity,” Mr Kennedy said. The final details of the seminar are being prepared now and it is hoped that by then the Government will have also outlined its proposal to assist Christchurch industrial concerns.
