Rescue at Estuary
Three children and an adult were rescued by the Sumner lifeboat yesterday when their runabout disintegrated on Sumner bar. The four were in the water for about 20 minutes before the Sumner Lifeboat Institution’s jet boat rescued them. They were supported in the water by a surf ski belonging to one of the members of the.. Sumner Surf Club who saw the boat start to sink and rode out to rescue .them. He was able to keep them afloat but was unable to get the four back to shore. All the occupants of the boat wore lifejackets. Their names were not available last evening.
