The peal was 5040 Surprise Minor and seven methods were used to ring it. Six bellringers were used. The vicar of St Paul’s the Rev. J. Meadowbank, is taking up a post at St Matthew’s, in Dunedin,’ and so the peal was also a farewell gesture for him.
