Politicians guilty
Two Philadelphia city councilmen have been convicted on charges of accepting money from undercover Federal Bureau of Investigation agents posing as representatives of a fictitious Arab sheikh during the Abscam investigation. The jurors found George Schwartz, a 20-year council veteran, guilty of two conspiracy counts involving racketeering and extortion, and Harry Junnotti, aged. SG, in ofice since 1969, guilty of one count of conspiracy to commit extortion. Much of the prosecution’s case was built on videotape recordings of meetings between the two and F. 8.1. agents, — Philadelphia.
