PA Auckland The latest attempt to resolve the wool store container handling payment dispute at Wiri has failed. Possible industrial action now may take place at main wool stores throughout New Zealand. Tactics to disrupt wool sales and the export of wool to overseas customers have
been under review by storemen and’ packers for several weeks. ;. ’ In Auckland, Wiri Woolstores; Ltd, has been under pressure from the union to meet a $25 unit payment for handling wool containers. The company has declined to pay, preferring instead to maintain an hourly payment to store workers actually involved in handling wool.
