Canty wins Hatch Cup

p A ' . '?■ ’ Invercargill Canterbury narrowly beat Auckland, 3-2, in the final of the Hatch Cup hockey tournament at Invercargill yesterday. The final was played in cold and wet conditions with last year’s Hitch Cup winner, Canterbury, making a determined start. Craig Mcßobb ran in a good goal, after dribbling from well outside the circle to put the South Island team up 1-0 . The score remained the same until after half-time when Can-

terbury again began quickly and dominated play. After a series of moves Canterbury forced two penalty corners in rapid succession. Both were successful and this gave Canterbury a 3-0 lead. The control of the play then changed hands and Canterbury found its defences being put- to the test. Attacking from both sides of the field,’ Auckland caught the leaders on the hop and made the score 3-2 through penalty comers.
