Shock shot
PA Wellington Alfred Saeno was inches away from death on Thursday evening. He was having a drink with friends in the Royal Oak Hotel just before closing time when a shot was fired through the window of the public bar. “I .was just lifting up my .beer and the next thing — pow! “Everyone was yelling, ‘Get down’, but I didn’t know what I was doing,” he said. •? . The bullet went over his head and ricocheted off a mirror behind ' the bar, narrowly missing the barman, who dived for cover.
Mr Saeno, who used to be a bouncer at the hotel, said it had been a quiet evening. Only about a dozen people were in the public bar, talking and playing the juke box. “The fhot — it really freaked me out,” he said, “but- it will not keep me away from the pub.” Other patrons, who did not wish to be named, said there had been trouble the previous evening with members of a: ■gang. / AThe police arrested, four people for possession of ammunition without lawful purpose. , A;.V
