Fiery exchange

PA Dunedin Spirited exchanges between the players as they left the field after yesterdays 1-1 draw between Dunedin City and Mount Wellington, will have set a short fuse for' next week’s Chatham Cup final between the two teams. But one player who will not be there is the Mount’s Keith Nelson, who was sent from the field on the advice of the linesman, Norman Wiseman, after kicking the City striker, John Russell. Any thoughts that the match would be a genteel affair vanished as both teams challenged vigorously for the ball, committed men forward, and within minutes both goalkeepers were in action. Brian Turner showed his class up front, deftly setting up play as “target man” Clive Campbell produced genuine pace on the wing. In the exercise of “closing down” and putting pressure on the opposition, Mount Wellington was superior. Scores Dunedin City 1 (Russell), Mount Wellington I (Campbell).
