Redundancy notices
Sixteen workers have been given notices of redundancy by their employer, Patience and Nicholson, N.Z., Ltd, of Kaiapoi. The company, which makes engineering cutting tool equipment, has reached agreement with the Engineers’ Union on redundancy payments. The firm laid off 11 workers last May from its staff of about 190. The lay-offs have come because of a fall in demand for the company’s products.
