N.Z. riders shine

The spectacular New Zealand rider, Graeme Crosby (Suzuki), is the new world Formula 1 road racing champion — the first world champion in this form of motor-cycling for 16 years. He won the second leg of the championship at the Ulster grand prix, finishing with a grand total of 27 points, two ahead of the Honda .works rider, Mick Grant, of England. Other New Zealand

riders have also been competing with distinction in Europe. Stewart Avant, riding a Formula 1 works Suzuki for the first time, was a very creditable fifth in the Formula 1 race won by Crosby at Silverstone. In the more recent Ulster grand prix at Dunrod, Dennis Ireland (Suzuki) claimed second place behind Donny Robinson (Ireland) in the 500 cu cm race. Third place in the same race of 74 miles was John Woodley (Suzuki).
