Mellseur’s trainer having problems

Special Correspondent Dunedin Hector Anderton, Jun., is seeking permission to gallop Mellseur between races at the Eastern Southland Hunt meeting on Saturday. Anderton had. planned to run Mellseur at the Wyndham point-to-point on Saturday but the fixture was cancelled. Anderton is being thwarted in his attempt to give Mellseur a lead up run to the South Island Thoroughbred Stakes at Orari on September 22. He also had the Cromwell Turf Club’s meeting in mind

but it is too close to the Geraldine race. Mellseur went to the point-to-point and Cromwell last year before she won the Breeders’ Stakes. Anderton is not too concerned about the situation. Mellseur has been working well and she is probably stronger this season as a six-year-old. Nick Harnett, who partnered Mellseur in her' wins in the Chardon Mile at Trentham, George Adams Handicap at Riccarton and Aluminium Stakes at Invercargill last season, has the mount at Orari.
