PA Wellington Prizes worth more than $600,000 will be offered in the. New Zealand Games lottery, which will, go on sale on Monday. Tickets for the lottery will cost $5. There will be 15 main cash prizes — a first prize of $200,000, a second prize of $50,000, a third prize of $25,000, and others ranging down to $5OOO. As well, there will be 5000 other minor cash prizes. The sponsorship prizes, together worth more than $70,000, include overseas trips, a car, motor-cycles, electrical appliances, and motor mowers.
The Minister of Internal Affairs (Mr Highet) said the lottery was a chance for New Zealanders to demonstrate their support for the athletes whose associations decided not to compete at the Moscow Olympics, and a chance to support next year’s New Zealand Games. “If the public rally round and support the lottery I am confident it will raise much more than the $200,000 I originally expected,” he said.
