’Quake delays train
PA Palmerston North The Northerner was delayed more than an hour after an earthquake which shook Manawatu at 4.45 a.m. yesterday. A railways spokesman said the train was held at Marton while the line was inspected and found to be A spokeswoman from the
seismological centre in Wellington said the earthquake had a magnitude of 4.9 on the Richter scale. It was centred 120 km ' from ’ Wellington, “putting it somewhere near Palmerston North.” No damage had been reported. The earthquake was the fourth felt in Palmerston North this year.
