Musgrove Bros to wind up
Shareholders of Musgrove Bros, Ltd, have decided to place the company in voluntary liquidation. The principal shareholders are the managing director Mr. G. G. Vickers, and his wife. The company was established in the 1940 s and grew to a sizeable Contracting business. Mr Vickers said yesterday the shareholders had decided that the company should be wound up because it could no longer trade profitably. This was mainly because of the downturn in the contracting industry.
Creditors of the' company have been asked to attend a meeting on September 6 to appoint a liquidator and consider the company’s financial affairs. . The company was involved in a protracted industrial dispute earlier this year over redundancy payments. About 40 workers will be made redundant when the company ceases business at its Wigram Road site. A redundancy agreement was imposed on the parties by a compulsory conference which ended the redundancy dispute.
