$2.5M bill for Otago storm
PA Wellington. The total cost to local authorities of the June storm in Otago was $2.5 million, a meeting of the National Roads Board has been told. The assistant director of reading (Mr R. B. Fisher) said that of that figure, $1.4 million was for damage to roads and $l.l mik lion was for bridges. . “The local authorities are optimistic that the bulk of the damage can be repaired this financial year,” Mr Fi'her said. “I do not share their optimism about the renewal of bridges, as design work on the new structures is barely underway.
