NZPA Buenos Aires 1 Victor Korchnoi gained a 1 draw with Lev Polugayeysky i yesterday to move within 1 half a point of victory in < their World Chess Cham- j pionship semi-final. <
The Russian defector needs only a draw in today’s twelfth game to defeat his former compatriot and advance to a final that will determine the next challenger of the Soviet world champion, Anatoly Karpov.
