Leading the way was the ; wing, Garry Major, who; scored three tries in 14 minutes to give Waikato a half- : time lead of 14-6. Playing with the wind in !
the second spell Waikato took complete control, running in tries to the second five-eighth, Murray Taylor, the loose forwards, Brian Morrissey and Geoff Hines, and the centre, Arthur Stone. The half-back, Doug Phillips, added three conversions and a penalty. Wairarapa’s points came from two Neil Kjestrup penalties and a last-minute try to ’the winger, Tony McKenna.
