Squads picked
John Te Amo, the captain of the Canterbury Maoris rugby team this season, is likely to oppose his teammates when the Maoris and Canterbury B meet each other at Linfield Park on August 17. Te Amo and the nimble Merivale - Papanui second five - eighths, Paul Karena, have both been omitted from the Maoris squad, as they are probable selections for the B team.
The Maori senior and colts squads, which will train at Fendalton Park at 7.30 p.m. on Thursday, August 14, are:
Senior.—Backs: Anton Wils, Victor Simpson, Terry Mitchell, Ned Tamatea. Sam Hale, Mike Dolan, Ralph Robertson, Gary MacDonald, Lance Rickard, Johnny Jones, Marty Vincent.
