S3 SOUTHLAND HOSPITAL BOARD DIRECTOR OF SURGERY Southland Hospital Board Invercargill, New Zealand VACANCY NO. 16/24 (A) APPLICATIONS ARE INVITED from registered Medical Practitioners possessing a recognised Postgraduate Fellowship or Mastership of Surgery for the above post. Southland Hospital has 450 beds of which the Department of Surgery has 160. All wards have recently been modernised. There are full back-up facilities and a Theatre Suite of four theatres is new, as is the Obstetric Unit which contains one operating theatre. Southland Hospital is recognised by all the Royal Colleges for both basic and advanced surgical training. The duties of the Director of Surgery are largely clinical but there are some administrative duties, including supervision of the surgical side of the Board’s other institutions. The appointment is either full time or on a 9/10ths basis.
