The Social Service Assistant will be responsible for the development of community contracts and service delivery in the areas of accommodation, work, recreation and education, working primarily at the request of social workers in individual teams to co-ordinate the above services for inpatients and outpatients of Christchurch Hospital. It is expected that, the successful applicant will work alongside the Social Workers in locating community resources and developing effective links with community agencies. . Although a recognised social work qualification is not essential for this position, consideration will be given to persons holding appropriate qualifications or experience m the helping professions. Knowledge and understanding of community resources would be an advantage. The person appointed will need to relate warmly and easily to patients in a variety of age groups.
