Amvic to close shops

PA Levin A Levin knitting firm, Amvjc Fabrics, Ltd, has decided to close most of its retail shops throughout New Zealand. The firm is a wholly owned, subsidiary of a Levin' textile business, Levin Dye-works, Ltd, and the managing director (Mr C. Aldridge) said it intended to concentrate on the increasing demand from their customers within the industry, and reduce the retail outlets. Fabric shops in Hamilton, Hastings, Tauranga, Miramar, and Nelson will close by the end of September, resulting in about 10 staff being redundant. Shops in Levin and New Plymouth will not close.
