Blow to S.A. rugby

NZPA Johannesburg The visit of five members of the South. African Springboks to Argentina has been cancelled since they were unable to obtain visas for the trip, said the South African Rugby Union Federation president, Dr Danie Craven, yesterday. The five Springboks were planning to leave South Africa yesterday to play for a World XV against Argentina’s Pumas next Saturday.

Besides these players — Naas Botha, Willie Kahts, Rob Louw, Louis Moolman and Mark Loane a South African referee, Steve Strydom, and Dr Craven were supposed to go. Mark Loane is a former Australian captain who now lives in South Africa. Dr Graven refused to comment on what effect the incident might have on the planned tour of the Springboks in South America later this year.
