“Country Calendar”
Sir, — I have never read such a lot of nonsense than that engendered by the television coverage of the H. B. Hunt. And Varian J. Wilson’s letter has really taken top marks. I wonder if he has ever tried rearing leverets; they are, unlike baby rabbits, very hard to rear. As , for sportspeople getting their, children to rear baby hares, so that they can later be used as live game is. so silly it shows just how little the majority of those who have written know about hunting. The whole coverage was splendid, barring the very stupid filming of the hare being broken up. One wants to remember it is a quick death, not one spent slowly dying of gunshot wounds or caught in a trap. — Yours, etc., (Mrs)' MONICA RUTHER- . FORD, Amberley. ■ • July 31, 1980.
