$3300 for heifer

A heifer from a South Canterbury breeder, A. S. Copland, was the top-sell-ing animal at the recent national Charolais Classic sale at Hamilton.

Mr Copland’s heifer sold for $3300 and a bull from his Brookfield Stud sold for $l7OO, the best price for a bull at the sale. The Classic was the third in a series of Charolais sales this year. The average price for bulls has been $1750, including a bull which sold to Australian interests for $7OOO. For purebred females, the average has been $2lOO.
