Farmers urged to take shares
Existing suppliers to N.C.F. Kaiapoi should take advantage of the _ shareholding offered them if they wanted to ensure killing space during the coming season,-said Mr J. H. M. Dawson at the monthly executive meeting of North Canterbury Federated Farmers meat and wool section. _ j Mr Dawson said applications for shareholding would close soon. He advised farmers eligible for shares to act quickly. Another freezing works had announced it would probably have an extra killing chain working this season, but there was no guarantee that space demands
'would be satisfied, Mr Dawson said. 1 Mr E. W. Turrell, chairman of the executive, said (that for a while the response from farmers had been good and a lot of shares had .been sold. Nonshareholders could have difficulty in obtaining killing space because N.C.F. Kaiapoi would give space preference to shareholders. Farmers in other South Ts« land areas would be watching the progress of N.C.F. Kaiapoi with interest, Mr Turrell said. Moves had been made elsewhere to establish f a r m e r-owned freezing works.
