Unlighted cycles
Sir, — I have been riding a bicycle to work’ for many years now and I have to agree that the lights available are certainly not good. In fact, I was stopped by a traffic officer last year, and told I had no light, but: on inspection he not only found I had a light but that it was working. As I also drive a car I realise the problem of not being able to see cyclists, and I do not agree that they should not have a light. The answer at present is certainly in the hands, of the cyclist as available now are bright coloured clothing arid also reflector sashes which are proving a real boon not only to cyclists but also .to joggers as these can be worn around any clothing. ' — Yours, etc., . T. H. BOUGEN. July 18, 1980.
