Salvage success?
NZPA London The Waitangi salvage expert, Kelly Tarlton, apd.other divers believe they are getting wanner in their undersea search for the rhultimiliion dollar cargo Of the eighteenth century bullion ship Lutine, After a month of. diving! at the island of Terschelling, off the Netherlands coast, the salvage team, has found a large section of. a timber hull which, Mr Tarlton said, was almost certainly/ part: pf tpe Lutine.
“It’s a part 'of the Ship that’s never -been discovered- . before,” . Mr Tarlton sgid- ' “It’s more than 75 metres' from any known wreckage site. “There’s a lot of sand ; which makes it difficult- for us to move around properly, .hut the large timbers we’ve found have fastenings identical to those discovered pre? viously, AH reasonable doubt! about jt being part of the Lutine has been removed."
