Bowls levy increase

Canterbury bo.wlers face a considerable Increase in their levy fee to the Christchurch Bowling Centre this season following increases imposed by both the national association and the provincial centre. With the Christchurch centre showing a loss last year of about $lBOO, it proposed an increase of $1 per member at the annual meeting of delegates last evening. The New Zealand body has also increased its levy from $1.40 to $1.90. After some discussion, the proposed increase was passed. Taking into account the national association’s levy, city clubs will

now pay $4.35 and country clubs will be levied $4.05. A motion from the Rangiora club that the three-fours, pennants, Robinson Shield and junior fours all be played at the same time so that other club fixtures could be rearranged if necessary, was heavily defeated. Mr P. H. Rose was elected the new president of the centre and other officers elected were: Senior vice-president, Mr I. D. H. Ferguson; junior vice-presi-dent, Mr W. Bodger; executive, Messrs J. L. Stead and K. Perry; treasurer, Mr A. E. Carson; advisory and rules officer, Mr M. A. Le Cren; assistant, Mr D. Martin.
