More aid to flood-hit
PA Wellington The Cabinet has approved extra assistance for farmers affected by flooding on the Taieri Plains. The Minister of Agriculture (Mr Maclntyre) said yesterday that the Government recognised the floods were more devastating than farmers could have expected. As well, special Rural Bank loans were available to assist with all repair costs, including loss of earnings.
Rural Bank leading to flooded farmers would total $1.5 to $2.5 million:
