‘Stunning sprint’

NZPA Martlgues, France Bernard Vallet. of France, won yesterday’s fifteenth stage of the Tour de France cycle race snatching the lead in a stunning last-minute sprint in the 158 km run along the Mediterranean coast.

But Joop Zoetmelek, of tho Netherlands, held his over-all lead by ending well placed in the close field.

Vallet. aged 26, competing in his second tour, thrilled the

crowd lining the coastal roads when he pulled free from two compatriots on the final hill and powered his way to the top to win. It was his first victory in the tour.
