Court Theatre grants
Sir, — We were concerned to read (“The Press,” June 20) that Mrs Helen Garrett quotes 5170.000 as the amount received by the Court Theatre in grants last year. This is not correct. As printed in the audited statement of income and expenditure of the Christchurch Theatre Trust for the year ended December 21, 1979, grants and donations
were made up as follows: — Q.E. II Arts Council $94,000; other grants (Labour Department subsidies, touring grant and theatre-in-educa-tion) $30,650; Christchurch City Council $2678; Waimairi County Council $1080; Riccarton Borough Council $101; fund-raising donations $1095; Court Theatre Supi jrters Society $12,000; Department of Internal Affairs (cultural facilities) $7900 — total $149,504. — Yours, etc., (Mrs) IVY L. PENNIKET, Business manager, Christchurch Theatre Trust. June 20, 1980.
