Man’s dismissal ‘justified’
PA Auckland, The Waitemata City Council’s decision , to dismiss its assistant chief engineer was "inevitable and justified” the Arbritation Court has ruled.' In dismissing an application claiming unjustified dismissal, the court’s chairman, Judge Horn, said that •Norman McLeod MacKenzie IdSt his job “for . reasons concerning his conduct.” No order was made regarding costs. Judge Horn said that while the Court considered Mr MacKenzie a “highly 1
licapable and energetic engin- . eer,” it found he had , “broken too many rules, cut !too many corners, created or J contributed to disharmony, and that his dismissal was, . in the end, inevitable and [ justified.” The hearing followed Mr ; Mackenzie’s dismissal from ' his $24,000-a-year job in No- ] vember last year. * He is a member 'of'.the ; Auckland Local Authorities Officers’ Upion ' which : brought a personal grievance [claim alleging unjustified 'dismissal.
