TJUTIES AND J.ESPONSIEILITIES: I (1) Operate Satellite Earth ; Station system as reI quired by INTELSAT I on day-to-day basis. (2) Undertake " routine system measurements f and control performance. (3) Maintain and repair equipment. (4) Initiate and analyse special fault investigations. (5) Keep up-to-date stores inventory and request re-ordering of spares as necessary. (6) Responsibility for staff training. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: (a) University education with a degree or diploma in engineering or science (Minimum 3 to 4 years advanced studies beyond secondary school) with evidence of specialisation in telecommunications OR an equivalent level of education and specialisation in the field relevant to the activity of the post, supported bj- appropriate qualifications or references. (b) Extensive experience in the operation and maintenance of a satellite' earth station. (e) Experience in the operation and maintenance of microwave bearer, multiplex and VFTG systems. (d) A working knowledge of INTELSAT rules and operating procedures. (e) A working knowledge of SCPC and PCM/PSK .. techniques. (f) Experience In stores handling for Satellite Earth Station installations, I GENERAL:
. A soft furnishing allowance 'of SWSSO will be paid in respect of approved items. A boarding allowance of SWSBOO p.a. will be paid for each dependant child in country of recruitment. Storage charges will be paid in country of recruitment up to SWSIS per week. Insurance up to an amount of SWS2OOO cover on personal effects taken to Western Samoa will be re-imbursed. Furnished accommodation (heavy) will be provided at a rental of $l2O to Sl6O per month. Freight will be paid on household and personal effects sent by sea up to 1.7 cubic metres for a single officer, and 5 cubic metres and 0.8 cubic metres for each dependent child for a married officer.
