Bag snatch foiled
A fireman and a St John ambulance man foiled a handbag snatch at 7.15 p.m. yesterday while taking part in a joint exercise at the St John building in Durham Street. As the Fire Service set up flood lights and a crane to rescue a “trapped” man on top of the building an ambulanceman noticed a man snatch a handbag from a woman about 15m away. He and a fireman gave chase, pinned the man on the ground, and returned the bag to its owner.
