Hospital Avon bridge
Authority to call tenders for a permanent bridge from 1 Rolleston Avenue to Christ- : church Hospital was received by the North Canter-1 bury Hospital Board yester-; day.
The bridge, to cost more than $200,000, will be completed next year. Giving the authority the Minister of Health (Mr Gair) said the bridge would provide rear access to the hospital complex. It would be used by pedestrians and the board’s service vehicles.
The bridge proposal was the subject of an unsuccessful appeal on environmental grounds last year to the Town and Country Planning Appeal Authority.
About the same time, Parliament passed an amendment to the Christchurch Hospitals Act to allow the board to provide permanent access to the hospital.
