St Albans works
Sir, — I wish to support the comments of your correspondent, Frank' Hooper, (April 14) regarding the state of St Albans streets. In the Aylesford Street area the footpaths are badly cracked and very uneven, with large holes around the power poles adding an extra hazard to the young or unwary. This is a direct result of previous flooding, which.has caused severe and some urgent attention is long overdue. I also fail to understand why a strip is left at the edges of streets and footpaths when resealing is being done. Surely street maintenance, such as gutter cleaning, would be needed less often with thorough sealing. No’ wonder Waimairi County wins the majority of the street competition awards. They have a clear lead in appearance, arid an obvious ; high standard which the Christchurch City Council should als 6 strive to attain. — Yours, etc,,
P. B, FELTON, April 17, 1980,
