A tourist’s suggestion

Sir, — I was interested to read in this column that Sally Wiley and her friends from Aurora, Colorado, (April 11) had become avid readers of “The Press” during their holiday here. A worthy commendation. The six marked suggestions to make the tourists happy are commendable too. “Install more , drinking fountains.” Of course “corporation pop” is the cheapest beverage to quench one’s thirst. Another of Sally Wiley’s suggestions is: “Mark the - streets and highways to enable a strang-

er to find his way.” Very good. There are many intersections throughout the city which are without adequate street name-plates, A characteristic of; London streets is the uniformity of. street names—• displayed boldly at every street, comer, with the; district marking — which show up well on the high buildings. Perhaps thecouncil could take a cue here? In addition, a multi-signpost erected in the Cathedral Square might help the stranger to find his way; — Yours, etc.,. ; > A. DELHANTY. April 15, 1980.
