Residents to fight tip
An action committee was elected by Bexley residents last evening to oppose the Christchurch City Council’s reopening of the tip near Pages Road. Residents’ feelings, ran high at the meeting, and the council’s introduction of the scheme without explanation was deplored, said the chairman of the Bexley Residents’ Association (Mr B. V. Brickie). A suggestion that immediate steps be taken to establish the existing completed area as a public park was carried unanimously.
About 200 people attended the meeting in the Roy Stokes Hall, New Brighton.
