Hit-and-run witnesses sought

The drivers of two cars are urgently sought by the Christchurch police to help with inquiries into a fatal hit-and-run accident at Woolston on Easter Monday.

A pedestrian, Charles Terauna, aged 26, died in hospital on April 11, from injuries suffered in the accident in Ferry Road, near Portman Street, about 10.30 p.m. on April 7. Several people have been interviewed, and the police now seek the drivers of a blue Holden car and a cream 1100 or 1300 Austin or Morris car. It is believed that the driver of the cream 1100 or 1300 car pursued the offending vehicle from the scene. The police would also like to hear from any person who was travelling along Ferry Road near Portman Street between 10.25 p.m. and 10.35 p.m. on Easter Monday. Witnesses are asked to get in touch with the Central Police Station.
