In Dictate and Beach Bird Riccarton stables will have two worthwhile runners in |the second log of the T.A.B. treble, the Greig Handicap, gt Blenheim today. Dictate came back from a racing let-up with an impressive victory at Riccarton last Saturday. Beach Bird showed gameness in finishing fourth after Ipacemaking on the first day Cf the C.J.C. Easter meeting.’ 0n the smaller turning course a front-running galJloP from the number one
position over 1400 m could help him to put another winning run on record. With the Awapuni-trained River Mellay out of the field, the prospect of a local victory for Quay Princess has brightened. Although not too well drawn, she has always shown a preference for her home course and could bring about an allSouth Island finish.
In the first leg of this treble, the Glengarry Handicap, one of the top fancies is sure to be the Ashburtontrained, Saba Ribbon. Payco, from Woodville, and the Riccarton-trained Paddy
Beaufort, which had a laststart second on his home course .at Easter and has been an impressive trialist earlier in the week,, will also have a big following. Rocky Nymph, a member of Garth Ivil’s powerful Awapuni stable, is selected in the third leg, the Tallott Handicap. He will head a strong North Island challenge which is likely to be strongly supported by the Wanganui-trained Cindie and Anticipate, the lone member of Bruce Marsh’s-Woodville stable competing at the meeting.
