Fouroux looks sound Methven prospect

By

G. K. YULE

Fouroux, one of the more talented juvenile pacers in Canterbury, looks set to extend an already sound record when he contests the Two-year-old Stakes, one of the feature races at the Methven Trotting Club’s autumn meeting today.

Fouroux did well to finish third in a record-run New Zealand Welcome Stakes on April 5. But for running to-' Wards the outside fence in the run home and given his driver, Richard Brosnan, a difficult time, he would have finished much closer. As it was he was beaten three lengths and two lengths by Captain Padero and Bradwin, E either of which are among is rivals in a capacity field. Fouroux will start from 10m, as will Winning Glimpse, which is expected jto provide most opposition to the probable favourite. Winning Glimpse was very Slow away in the Welcome Stakes and made up some

ground for eighth. Before that he had raced most consistently and will only have to get under way reasonably well to take a prominent part in the finish. Vita Man, a colt by Knowing Bret, could be the pick of the big line-up on the front. The Dunedinowned and trained youngster drifted to sixth in the Welcome Stakes at his latest start. The class is not nearly so rich this time, suggesting that he should be a sound place chance. Patsy Marie, Scout, Wally Scott, Morose, and Motu Command will be other phanopc Much interest will centre

in the race debut of Bionic Adios, a brother of this season’s New Zealand Derby Stakes winner, Game Adios. He has shown a fair turn of speed at trials and might get into the finish. The Two-year?old Stakes is the final leg of the oncourse treble and the first T.A.B. quinella race. The Lyndhurst Handicap, for slow-class trotters, and the First Highbank Handicap, for maiden-pacers, are the other two legs of this treble. Sid looks a sound chance in the first leg, while Lord Norice could prove more than a match for his rivals in the middle leg.
