Investigation of shed fire at Prebbleton
Fire-safety officers are still investigating the cause of a fire which destroyed about $60,000 worth of farm machinery in a' shed at Prebbleton early yesterday. ■ The blaze broke out just after 4.30 a.m. in the old goods shed at the former Prebbleton railway station. The building and its contents were well . ablaze by the time engines from Sock-
burn and the Lincoln Volunteer Fire Brigade arrived, and there was little firemen could do. The shed had been leased by a Wanganui-based company, Aitchison Industries, Ltd. It contained about $60,000 worth of the company’s farm machinery, including a chisel plough, spray tanks, and a fertiliser spreader.
