Mi-Sex win awards

The New Zealand rock group, Mi-Sex, have won three awards at the inaugural Countdown — TV Rock Awards. Included in the group’s awards was that of “Best Australian single for 1979 for “Computer Games.” The award for best Australian record producer went to the New Zealander, Peter Dawkins, for his work with Mi-Sex. Melbourne’s Little River Band, the biggest selling Australian-based act on the international rock market, also won three awards. ‘ These . included the major award for “most outstanding achievement in Australian rock music in 1979.” . Other winners were Christie Alien, who won the award as the most popular female performer and Jon English, who was voted most popular male performer. The best Australian recorded songwriter went to Terry Britten, who has had much success with Cliff Richards, and who is responsible for the songs and production, that won Christie Alien’s award.
