Smelter ban lifted
PA Invercargill The loadout ban on all products from the Tiwai Point aluminium smelter was lifted at. 10 a.m. yesterday, when a compulsory conference began in an attempt to settle the three-week dispute. The conference was ordered by the Minister of
Labour (Mr . Bplger). late last week after New Zealand Aluminium Smelters asked him- for help/'The general manager, operations (Mr L. B. Allsopp) has estimated that the dis- ’ pute cost the company more than $640,000, mainly from hold-ups to company shipping.
