Kempkers wins Finn title
Nephew triumphed over uncle when Peter Kempkers won the Canterbury Finn class championship at Charteris Bay during the weekend.
In a reversal of the major placings at the South Island contest earlier this. summer, Peter Kempkers won from his uncle, 'Freerk Kempkers; But if the result was unexpected, there was no doubt as to the worth of the younger Kempkers’s success. Peter Kempkers gained line honours in three of the heats and was fourth in the other race. Freerk Kempkers won the third heat and was the ruhner-up each time that his nephew led home the fleet of 13 starters. Alister Macfarlane, of Wanaka, was third over-all.
The championship marked the last apperance in Finns of Dave Campbell, for long one of the most dedicated
■ and competitive skippers in the Olympic monotype. A former place-getter at South Island level, Campbell is contemplating a transfer to the Flying Fifteen division. . Andy Holland and Shane Adams won all four races in the provincial Father and Son championship, giving them a decisive advantage over John Ramage and Wifiton Buchanan and Trevor Ballard and Paul Holland,!.;-!; Provincial contests were held in the Flying Ant and Phase II classes for the first time.
