A youth knifed two policemen . in a Naenae street on Saturday evening. Detective Constable Alan Pearce and Constable Brendan Cody, of the Lower ; Hutt police, went to Everest Street, Naenae, Just before 10 p.m. looking for va person who had failed to »appear, In court. They approached a youth,- J who pulled out a knife and a fight broke out. As the three struggled
both policemen were stabbed in the upper leg. Their attacker ran off but they managed to call for help on their radios. Reinforcements arrived quickly and the men were taken to hospital. One of the men had to have 14 stitches in a leg. Both men were later discharged but will be off work for at least 10 days.The police arrested a youth, aged 16, in a nearby house half an hour after tlie stabbing.
